It is a win win situation. Finally an outlet for all the people who create homemade crafts! A young lady named Nicole recently quit her day job as a graphic design artist and now sells full time. Etsy is one of her main outlets. Nicole named her new venture Lillyella, and is now doing quite well. How did she make the plunge? How did she have the courage to give up her day job? Well, to be honest she was scared to do it. But one day a friend told her about etsy and she immediately opened up her store. Her sales were strong, but she was still scared. She says " I remember being up really late that night, couldn't sleep, nervous but excited, and I heard a song on the radio. One line said "I'm always sure until I doubt," and that perfectly summed up how I felt. But my Etsy sales continued strong and I then had the time to really push forward, expand my shop and start to do some marketing. That was about two months ago and now I am always sure, but no longer doubting. I never thought I would be so happy about not getting what I thought was my dream job, and that in turn, I would end up finding my true dream job. Gosh, this is all making me tear up a bit!" They showcase many of their successful sellers here: http://www.etsy.com/storque/search/tags/etsy-success-stories/ Etsy even shows you how to promote your own store. One couple created their own video. Christine Street says she decided to make a video to promote their store chocolateandsteel. She says she decided to do it because she was looking for and inexpensive way to promote her shop. she says she wanted it to be casual, whimsical, and have a bit of fantasy to it. She wanted the video to showcase her jewelry pieces. In her video she used tulips, styrofoam for the trees, and a cardboard box for the cottage. The curtains were catalog pages folded, the window pane was chopsticks, and a wooden rose bead for the doorknob. the total cost for the video? Just $12.50!
